G2 Esports Parts Ways With Head Coach Luka 'Perkz' Perković After His 'Tweet Bomb' Sparks Backlash

G2 Esports has parted ways with its head coach and retired League of Legends player Luka "Perkz" Perković following divisive comments he made in a lengthy post on Twitter/X.
The 2,676-word-long tweet was published on November 4, 2026. Perković described it as his “first and last honest post in [the] last decade,” where he could “address some things honestly.” He explained that he’d written the statement to clarify his stance on certain topics “so that, at the very least, you can hate me for what I really stand for, and then that's completely fine by me.”
In the post, which he jokingly called a “tweet bomb,” Perković said he is not a fan of and does not endorse the Tate brothers in any way; claimed that “doesn’t really do politics” and has never “ever voted once” in his life; said he is not a fan of either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris; said he is a devout Catholic; denied being a “Putin fanboy” or being on the side of Russia in the war on Ukraine; and shared his stance on abortion, comparing it to “murder.”
“I don’t really do politics, nor have I even ever voted once in my life. I do have opinions, and I wish I was more educated on the topic, but the truth is I’m not, so I stay away from it,” he wrote. “There are some things I stand for, very simple things in life, but the only thing that is unshakeable for me, how it’s so widely accepted in public, is abortion. I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that is a muder, as life is created at conception. That is one view I will die by and never change.”
Perković also addressed his relationship with retired League of Legends pro and former G2 CEO Carlos "ocelote" Rodríguez Santiago, who stepped down from the company in 2022 after sharing a video of himself at a party with Andrew Tate. “Me standing up for Carlos publicly when he was being cancelled has nothing to [do] with all the things I’m all accused of supporting. Trafficking? Misogyny? Nazism? War? Are you okay?” Perković said of the matter.
“Carlos believed in me when nobody else did. I did not have a close relationship with my family when I was 16, including my parents, [who] I was not too close with, either. …Carlos and I have gone both completely different ways. He is his own person and I’m completely my own. In the end Carlos’ ego is something that put an end to his esports career, which was f**king insane. So there is a lesson to be learned in there, as well. We have a lot of different views on life.”
Perhaps the biggest takeaway from Perković’s post was his stance on abortion. This particular remark was a main talking point among fans and fellow players on social media, sparking a massive wave of backlash against him. G2 Esports addressed the situation in a public post mere hours later, where they confirmed that they have parted ways with Perković due to his tweet.
Their full statement is as follows:
“Last night, like many of you, we saw the statement shared by the Head Coach of one of our teams. G2 is a diverse and international organization with different people from all around the world. While the world is complex and not everyone agrees on everything, some of the statements made last night do not align with G2's stance and values. We have fans with different cultures and personal opinions, and it is of the utmost importance to us as an organisation that we respect and uphold this diversity when representing G2. We acknowledge that this statement hurt many of our fans, and we want to apologize for it.
“As a result, we have decided to terminate our collaboration with the individual. We will now focus on rebuilding our staff and roster for the next season and ask for your patience, as we will not be able to communicate any changes until free agency officially opens. - Alban Dechelotte, CEO of G2.”
Perković has since published one other tweet — a Bible verse from Luke 6:22. “Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake,” he wrote. This post, too, has received backlash from users. Perković has not posted anything else on his account at the time of writing.
