The father of late Pokémon influencer Avery the Poké Kid is asking The Pokémon Company to create a special card in honor of his son.

Avery the Poké Kid was a prominent and cheerful voice in the Pokémon Trading Card Game community. He died in September 2026 at 12 years old in after a seven-year-battle with pancreatic cancer; he went viral posthumously when his family shared a video of his final card pack opening a few days after his death, in which he excitedly pulled a 30th Anniversary Jirachi SIR card.

Now, his father is putting forth a public request to The Pokémon Company to make a special card in Avery’s honor.

On November 6, Christian Garcia — Avery’s father — published a tearful video on Instagram with a special plea to "immortalize" his son in the hobby he loved the most.

“Trying to figure out how to carry on Avery’s legacy has been the biggest challenge of the last couple months,” Garcia said. “…I want to make a plea to anyone, literally anyone from The Pokémon Company: If you’re watching this video, I want to figure out how to immortalize him somehow in the trading card game he loved so much.

“That kid literally was the embodiment of a Pokémon Master, and we’re hopeful, and I think it would be the coolest thing to open up a pack of cards and chase our son. If someone at The Pokémon Company is watching, please get a hold of us.”

Fans and fellow collectors are doing everything they can to get the attention of The Pokémon Company, with most agreeing that it would only make sense to make his card some iteration of a Jirachi, given his viral pull that took over social media after his death.

Avery’s heartbreaking Jirachi pull even caught the attention of the card’s artist, who posted an emotional reaction to the news on her Twitter/X account. “I’m so deeply moved. I’m so glad I kept drawing. I’ve honestly been in tears ever since I saw this,” she wrote. “‘I want my art to bring happiness to people.’ That’s one of the reasons I draw. I’m so glad I put that wish into this piece.”

This latest statement from Avery’s father follows a September announcement from the influencer’s family in response to scalpers inflating the price of the 30th Anniversary Jirachi SIR card as a result of his viral video.

“We are not involved in or benefiting from any cards being sold in Avery’s name or likeness. We have not approved these sales. We have asked sellers to take their listings down. Please do so immediately. This does not honor Avery’s generous heart. We are mourning our son and caring for our children. Please let us do that in peace,” they wrote at the time.
